what is mood?

the inspiration for our company name is the instantaneous feeling we get from candles.  no matter what mood we are in or want to be in, a candle and scent can pair with it. whether we are riding a wave of happiness, getting out of a funk, creating a cocoon of serenity or evoking a memory; candles are a vital ambiance creator.
at mood we believe that quality candles should be burned as often and frequent as your moods. they don’t have to just be for special occasions. our mission is for you to experience luxury scents without the price tag, be guilt free from rationing candle burns, and above all simply enjoy the good vibes of our candles.
mood candles are 100% soy based. our wax is natural for a slower cleaner candle burn and higher fragrance load for improved scent throw. mood candles are handmade and hand poured with personal decorative touches, each a manual labor of love we would be proud to burn in our own homes.

Meet the makers

mood was born out of our love for candles.  f-u-l-l-s-t-o-p.
former colleagues with immense respect for one another, we discovered we both had a passion for candle making and the rest was history. 
you know when something feels too easy it just feels right? this was the inception of mood. a fleeting thought vocalized one night over champagne and scent mixing, texts the next day as if we had spoke it into existence, and within a week a name, to-do list and spreadsheets galore--because that’s how we both roll.

  • i really began to fall in love with candles when i had to get a second job to pay my school bills shortly after i graduated college. i worked at a candle store and was enamored with the idea of living by candle light. the idea of detaching from the world, going analog, and finding serenity.

    i was hooked and burned religiously for years, trying different brands and scents. stockpiling faster than i could burn. i could easily burn through a $35+ candle in 3 days. my candle habit just wasn’t sustainable to say the least, and i felt the squeeze of having to ration my candles to meet my personal financial goals.

    to me candles are essential to my mental and emotional well being, and i can’t put a price on that. candles bring calm in chaos; comfort, warmth, tranquility. we all need and deserve more of this in our lives. my hope is that mood can make candle burning more equitable, giving everyone simple joy as they burn.
